MIAAA COMMITTEES

Administrative Assistants

The committee is responsible to represent the Administrative Assistants who are members of the MIAAA, including to assist in planning for the Annual Conference and Summer Workshop. A subcommittee is responsible to evaluate and recommend the Administrative Assistant of the Year.​

Annual Conference

The committee with their spouses are the hosts of the Annual Conference, they work with the hotel and staff, organize the Conference presentation rooms and set up, work with the vendors and plan all the activities for the March gathering.

Collects, evaluates, and recommends members for MIAAA designated awards; Athletic Director of the Year, Distinguished Service Award, Dedicated Service Award, and Regional Athletic Director of the Year.

Classification

The committee works with the MHSAA to provide information and assistance when discussing the various school sizes across our state.

Constitution

Interprets the MIAAA constitution. All changes or revisions to the constitution are reviewed by this committee.

Educational Athletics

Develops, maintains, and promotes educational athletics while acknowledging that all people involved in school sports share in providing effective athletic administration.

Exemplary Athletic Program

Develops and coordinates the MIAAA Exemplary Athletic Program - a voluntary recognition program for Michigan interscholastic athletic programs that includes an application process, self-assessment, panel review, and site visits.

Keeps the communication lines open with the sister states in section four; Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, and Wisconsin.

Historical Records/Commemoration

Responsible for record keeping of all events, happenings, and personnel of the MIAAA since its inception as an organization. These listings include items such as past presidents, all award winners, life members, CAA, current officers and committee chairs.

Middle School/Junior High

Works to address the needs and issues particular to administrators of Middle School and Junior High athletic programs.

Membership Services

The committee works with the online voting for Recording Secretary, works to meet other needs identified by the membership.

NIAAA Liaison

The committee works in cooperation with the NIAAA, sharing information and resources to the Michigan membership often through other committees.​

Past President

The Past President works with a nominating committee to recommend eligible candidates to run for the position of Recording Secretary each year.​

Nominates eligible members to run for the position of recording secretary.

Position Statements

Coordinates the MIAAA's voice for change and public positions as approved by the Board of Directors and eventually the entire membership.

Professional Development

Coordinates the National Athletic Director Certification Program and the National Leadership Training Courses (LTC) for Michigan, offers Continuing Education Unit (SCECH'S) credit to members at approved MIAAA conferences and programs, contacts and provides support for new Athletic Directors, and provides other professional development services to members.

Public Relations

The committee works in conjunction with the Awards committee to provide appropriate recognition to the media for our annual award winners, and communicates recognition to the media about members and their programs.​

Retirees/Life Membership

Tracks life members, determines Life Membership eligibility of retiring MIAAA members, keeps Life Members informed of MIAAA activities and provides assistance at the Mid-Winter Conference.

Scholarship

The committee works to advertise the opportunity for students of our members to apply for one of 13 scholarships that are given annually. They meet to select, award and recognize the winners each spring.

Strategic Planning

The committee provides the road map for the MIAAA to meet annual goals and work towards maintaining an active and viable organization for the future.
